Two people test positive for coronavirus in India: Latest developments

NEW DELHI: India on Monday reported two more positive cases and one suspected case of Covid-19, the novel coronavirus infection that has killed over 3,000 people globally till now.

One suspected case, two positive cases
The positive cases include a Delhi resident who returned from Italy on February 25 and a 24-year-old man from Telangana who returned from Dubai recently.
The suspected case is of an Italian tourist who is quarantined at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. He tested positive for Covid-19 in the first test but health ministry officials are waiting for re-confirmation from the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, to declare it as a positive case.

Air India crew told to be in self-imposed quarantine
All crew members of February 25 Vienna-Delhi flight have been asked to stay in isolation at their respective homes for 14 days. A male passenger, who travelled from Vienna to Delhi by this flight, was found to be infected with the coronavirus.
Telangana government issues health advisory for schools and educational institutes
The health department of Telangana state has issued an advisory to all the schools and educational institutions after COVID-19 positive was detected in the state today.
Person who tested positive in Telangana came in contact with 80 people
"The person who has been detected positive for Coronavirus in Telangana travelled to Bengaluru from Dubai and then came to Hyderabad. Around 80 people identified who came in contact with him, they all being monitored. We've also alerted Bengaluru authorities," Telangana health minister said.
No positive cases in Andhra Pradesh
No positive case of coronavirus registered in the state so far. Full screening being done at airports and seaports. Till date, 263 passengers came to the state from coronavirus affected countries. All of them are kept under observation. Fifty of them are under doctor's supervision at their own houses, 28 days monitoring is complete for 211 of them. Eleven samples were sent to the lab, ten of them tested negative for coronavirus, the result of one sample yet to come, according to health medical and family welfare department, Andhra Pradesh government.

India's diamond exports could shrink by a fifth to $19 billion by the end of fiscal 2021 from $24 billion in fiscal 2019, as the novel coronavirus outbreak amplifies sluggishness in global demand, Crisil said on Monday. In the first nine months of this fiscal, India's total diamond exports by value were down 18 per cent year-on-year.
3,222 people tested for coronavirus till now
According to health ministry officials, total 3,222 people have been tested for coronavirus to date. Of this, only five have tested positive and results of tests conducted on 23 people are awaited.
Over 15 lakh people screened across the country for coronavirus
A total of 5.5 lakh passengers have been screened at airports and 12,431 at major and minor seaports so far. He also informed that around 10.2 lakh people have been screened in the villages of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim bordering Nepal.
Also, 25,000 persons, who have returned from countries affected by coronavirus have been advised isolation at home and our district surveillance officers are constantly taking an update on symptoms of the disease, if any.
Around 1,086 people who returned from Iran in recent times have been recommended for community surveillance.
Authorities are screening travellers arriving from Kathmandu, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan at 21 designated airports in the country for a possible exposure to the virus.
Risk of coronavirus now very high at 'global level': WHO
Coronavirus is now spreading much more rapidly outside China than within the country, leading the world into uncharted territory, but the outbreak can still be contained, the World Health Organization said on Monday. Almost nine times as many cases had been reported in the past 24 hours beyond China than inside, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, adding that the risk of coronavirus spreading was now very high at a "global level".
Earlier, three students from Kerala who had returned from China’s Wuhan, the epicentre of Covid-19 outbreak, in February had tested positive for the virus. They were sent home once the symptoms cleared and tests confirmed they couldn’t spread the disease further.
