Another day, another car spotted testing in South Africa. This time, it's a big one - the W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. 

Edward Makwana posted images on social media of a partially camouflaged vehicle in Clarens, Free State on Sunday 1 March. It is recognisable as the new C-Class, with its stumped rear end and blacked-out Mercedes badge at the front. 

All the models wore German number plates and some were dressed in full camouflage, while others only had the front and rear 'hidden'. 

The grille is defined by a single slat across the width of the front air dam. 

The engine line-up is likely to include four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as a six-cylinder performance model, the C53 which replaces the C43.  

Contrary to reports, the C63 will retain its twin-turbo V8 engine and not use a four-cylinder. However, it benefits from the mild-hybrid system consisting of a 48-volt battery to aid off the line acceleration and fuel economy. 

Based on the modular rear-wheel-drive architecture, the platform is reportedly set to use high-strength steel and aluminium for better rigidity and lower weight.

According to reports, the W206 will make its world debut at the Paris motor show in October. Which means it'll go only go on sale in 2021.
