Not sure how to add watercolour eye makeup or hair accessories to your beauty repertoire? Let Karisma Kapoor show you how to do it in the most wearable way
Though Karisma Kapoor is known to prefer classics when it comes to her wardrobe, she has always been the first to dip her toe into the biggest beauty trends of a decade. For example, she rocked frosted lips and lids back in the ’90s, and come 2020, she dabbled with wet-look hair, watercolour eyeshadow and the millennial favourite, glowy no-makeup makeup look. Over the last few days, she has been busy promoting her upcoming web series, Mentalhood, with a variety of diverse beauty looks. Scroll ahead to take a closer peek.
For her first stop, the trailer release of Mentalhood, Kapoor complemented her bold red Roland Mouret dress with matching pumps and a normcore beauty look. Kritika Gill, who worked on the actor’s hair and makeup, styled her strands in old Hollywood waves with a side part. Her parting felt very of-the-moment, and the simple hairstyling trick is super flattering on all face shapes. For the makeup, Gill amped up Kapoor’s already radiant face by adding highlighter to the high points (across the cheekbones, down the nose and onto the eyelids), and kept the lips nude and glossy. Lip gloss, which is another trend from the ’90s that has found its way back, is best served slick rather than shiny à la Kapoor.
Soon after, the actor then made a mid-week pitstop at the ACE Business Awards in Bengaluru, which she attended as a chief guest. This time around, she picked a sculptured gown by Amit Aggarwal, and matched it with a statement-making beauty look. Gill gathered Kapoor’s flat-ironed hair into a swinging low ponytail, an easy style that doesn’t distract from the rest of the look. Watercolour eye makeup—a diffused, diluted multicoloured take—served as the focal point. Gill took shades of blue and purple and blended it over the entire lid, taking it up to the brow bone. A dusty rose lip shade tied it all together.
To end the week, Kapoor got straight back onto the promotional trail in a blue pantsuit by Edeline Lee. She also attended the wrap-up party for Coolie No 1, celebrating with stars Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan. For her busy day out, Gill styled Kapoor’s long strands in messy waves, using trendy hair clips on one side. She added a touch of cheek gloss, brushed up her brows, and brought the look together with a pink nude lip colour.
If you look back through her beauty files, you’ll know that Kapoor has already given fans all the inspiration fodder they’re looking for. Think: tendrils, berry lips, coloured eyeliner and sleek updos. Scroll ahead for some of our favourite looks from her experimental repertoire.
