PATNA: After the state level workers’ meet of JD(U) on Sunday, LJP chief
Chirag Paswan will be the next big political figure in
Bihar to address his party workers and supporters at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on April 14 to mark the conclusion of his ongoing “Bihar First, Bihari First” Yatra. Chirag is apparently one of the most watched out leaders in the NDA in Bihar as he has been critical of allies BJP as well as JD(U).
Chirag had said at Sheikhpura on Saturday that though development has taken place in Bihar under CM Nitish Kumar, but more work is required to be done in several fields.
Talking to reporters at Sheikhpura, Chirag said: “Why Biharis migrate in highest number to other states. How will the issue of unemployment be resolved ... Nevertheless, talking about shortcomings of the government does not mean that there are fissures in the alliance government,” he clarified.
Earlier last week, he had said in Nalanda that BJP should take action against its leaders like Kapil Mishra and Giriraj Singh for making provocative statements, which were also among the reasons behind the loss of NDA in recently concluded Delhi elections.
Speaking at a public meeting at Jamui on Sunday, Chirag, who is the MP from the same constituency, said he would raise the issue of developing Lachhuar Jain Temple in the district on the lines of other big shrines like Badrinath Temple.
“This is the birth place of Bhagwan Mahavir. I have requested the state government several times to develop Lachhuar Jain Temple on the lines of several other big temples. Development of Lachhuar Temple would not only enhance the economic activities, it will also provide employment opportunities to youths from across the region,” Chirag said.
Apart from raising local issues, Chirag has also supported the demands of niyojit (contractual) teachers, who are on strike at present. The LJP chief claimed that he will include the demands of contractual teachers, including ‘equal pay for equal work’, in the vision document of his party. State government, on the other hand, has been taking strict action against the agitating teachers, including lodging FIRs and suspending them for dereliction of duty.
Chirag apart, his cousin and Samastipur MP Prince Raj has also been criss-crossing the hinterlands of the state under
Bihar First,
Bihari First Yatra of the party. He interacted with party workers in Paliganj assembly segment in Patna district on Sunday and asked them to spread awareness about the party’s campaign.
LJP sources said Bihar First, Bihari First Yatra, which was launched on February 21, is aimed at linking Bihar with the wheel of development by interacting with people and taking their feedback for framing a vision document. Chirag has said that LJP will release the manifesto of the party six months before the assembly elections in Bihar slated to be held in October-November, this year.
