While shopping from any shop, do not forget to take a firm bill as you can win one crore rupees through it. The Central Government is working on a plan to introduce a lottery system as part of its efforts to prevent any misappropriation in the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Under this, every bill of shopping every month from April 1 will be included in the lucky draw. About this lottery, an official said that under this, a person shopping can get a reward of one crore rupees. He said that through this scheme, people will be encouraged to take firm bills, which can help the government in preventing GST theft.
A CBIC officer had informed last month that prizes ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore can be kept in this lottery scheme. The GST Council may decide on this in its next meeting. The next meeting of the council is to be held on 14 March.
The officer said that on receipt of any amount, you can win this lottery. This means that there will be no minimum or maximum limit for the transaction. The winner of the first prize in this lottery system will be awarded a big prize. Also, the second and third number winners can be selected at the state level.
GSTN is developing an app to run this lottery process smoothly. Later this month, the app will be available for Android and iOS users. To participate in this scheme, users have to scan the receipt and upload it on this app after purchasing the goods.
