Tamil Nadu budget session till April 9: Speaker

CHENNAI: The budget session of the Tamil Nadu assembly will resume on March 9 and will continue till April 9, speaker P Dhanapal said.
The decision was made at the business advisory committee in its meeting held earlier on Monday. Condolence resolutions will be moved for DMK MLAs, K P P Samy (Tiruvottiyur) and S Kathavarayan (Gudiyatham), and obituary references will be made for former MLA P Chandran at the commencement of the session on March 9.
There will not be any business on the following day and the session will resume on March 11. Demand for grants for various departments will be taken up beginning with environment and forests, Dhanapal said.
The demand of school education, youth welfare and sports development and higher education will be discussed on March 12, while energy, prohibition and excise on March 13, municipal administration and water supply, rural development and panchayat raj, special programme implementation on March 16, fisheries, personnel and administrative reforms, animal husbandry on March 17.
Highways and minor ports, public works department will be debated on March 18, cooperation, food and consumer protection on March 19, law, courts and prisons on March 20, social welfare and nutritious meal programme, welfare of differently-abled, BC, MBC and minorities welfare on March 21.
Housing and urban development on March 23, industries, micro, small and medium enterprises on March 24, handlooms, handicrafts, textiles and khadi department, information and publicity, stationery and printing on March 26, Dhanapal said.
Home will be debated for two days, March 27 and 30. Commercial taxes and registration and dairy development on March 30 and agriculture on March 31.
