Nagpur: Nandanvan police have booked a man on charges of obstructing garbage collectors (on government duty) from discharging their duty and also threatening drivers of garbage collection vehicles on Saturday at Wathoda Chowk.
According to police, AG Enviro, which has been given contract to collect garbage by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has a parking space for garbage collection vehicles at Wathoda Chowk. On Saturday, the accused identified as Mukesh Shahu went to the parking space and started threatening the drivers who were about to go to the work. He also threatened the parking in-charge Manoj Khankure.
This led to a delay of around two hours as the garbage vehicles were heldup. Following this, Manoj approached Nandanvan police station and filed a complaint.
It is learnt that Mukesh, a resident of Sonba Nagar, also has old offences registered against him, including at Kalamna police station.
Senior PI of Nandanvan police station Sandipan Pawar said, “The reason behind Mukesh’s action is unclear, but he claims to be from a workers’ union. Mukesh could have informed the police about his grievance. Instead, he interfered in the work of garbage collectors and hence we have booked him. He has not been arrested in the matter.”
