Ludhiana: A 14-year-old girl who escaped from her house in Fazilka district in September 2019 was allegedly forced into prostitution by two city-based women and was raped by their two accomplices for months. The accused kept the minor girl as slave at their home and forced her into prostitution, it was alleged. In January, the survivor managed to escape and reached Ludhiana railway station. Members of an NGO have reunited the survivor with her family.
The girl told her family what happened and her mother took her to police for lodging a complaint. The Fazilka police have lodged an FIR following her statement and sent it to Dugri police for further investigation.
The Dugri police have booked two women and their two accomplices for child trafficking, selling her for prostitution and rape.
The 14-year-old girl said she was a Class VIII student. She and her younger brother were living with their grandmother for the last one year due to strained relations of their parents.
The girl added that on September 10, 2019, her mother had scolded her over some petty issue following which she had left the house. She boarded a train and reached Ludhiana. She stayed at railway platform for two days. Thereafter, one of the women convinced her to go home with her, stating that she will help her in returning home.
She stayed at her house for a month and a half, where she was forced to take drugs. The male friends raped her for three days. Later, they had sent her to house of the other woman, who pushed her into prostitution.
The minor girl added that in January, she managed to escape from her house and reached Ludhiana railway station, where she was rescued by the NGO.
Sub-inspector Davinder Sharma said a case under sections 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave), 370-A (exploitation of a trafficked child), 372 (selling minor for purposes of prostitution, etc), 373 (buying minor for purposes of prostitution, etc) and 376 (rape) of IPC and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against the accused. A hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.
