Sooryavanshi will release on March 24.
The trailer launch of Rohit Shetty directorial Sooryavanshi will be held today in Mumbai. The film takes place in Shetty’s so-called cop film universe, which also encompasses Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba.
Sooryavanshi is the fourth film in the film universe.
Sooryavanshi introduces another star cop. The eponymous character is being essayed by Akshay Kumar. Katrina Kaif plays the female lead. Akshay and Katrina have earlier shared screen space in films like Singh is King, De Dana Dan, Welcome and Namaste London among more.
Sajid-Farhad have penned the script. Rohit Shetty, Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta have bankrolled Sooryavanshi.
Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi was introduced towards the end of Simmba. The movie also stars Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Vivan Bhatena. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will essay the role of Singham and Simmba, respectively, in cameo appearances.
Sooryavanshi will hit screens on March 24.

"It feels good when I get an opportunity to wear the police uniform. Uniform always has a lot of dignity. And I consider myself lucky. We all are lucky to get opportunities where we play such great roles," says Akshay Kumar.
"We have consulted a lot of real-life cops. Now this franchise has become about cops. So, we don't have to say anything. We just have to tell them we want to shoot and they readily give us permission," says Rohit Shetty.
"I was stunned that Katrina has done such a fabulous work in the film. I have become a huge fan of her," Akshay Kumar complimented friend and co-star Katrina Kaif.
"This man is a bonafide star. I think it takes a certain kind of ability to create this kind of universe. I really believe that I have so much to learn from him and all these people," Karan Johar said.
I have made 135 films and for the first time I am watching such a huge crowd. Rohit has made a fabulous movie. I hope the audience will like it. Ajay and I started our careers together and we have reached here, where we have done so many films together," said Akshay.
"I am too excited. I don't know whether I am excited about sharing screen space with my idols or reuniting with Rohit sir. I am as excited as the audience," said Ranveer Singh.
"I loved the trailer...Fab trailer. This is for the first time I'm watcing it. I don't think I intially thought it would turn into this huge franchise," said Ajay Devgn.
"There is palpable excitement in the room. I don't think in my years of producing and making films I have seen so much energy for the release of a trailer and justifiably so, because this is a universe which Hindi cinema hasn't seen. This is the first time that Indian cinema has a universe like this where you have the coalition of three mega movie stars," producer Karan Johar said.
The makers of Sooryavanshi launched the trailer of the film, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead role.

"I have a special kind of love and reverence for uniforms because my father was in the army and I had always seen him wear his uniform, proudly. In the case of Sooryavanshi, I got a chance to revisit that space of a hardcore commercial action film. It gave me that sense of déjà vu, as I performed the kind of action that I did years ago," Akshay told Bombay Times.
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will share screen space in Sooryavanshi. Earlier, the actor shared a photo on Instagram and mentioned how working with Katrina felt like.

Sanjay Dutt arrived on the sets of Sooryavanshi, which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Gulshan Grover tweeted a photo featuring Dutt, Kumar and himself.

“I have worked with his (Rohit) father Shetty sahab whom I respected a lot. I have done a lot of work with him and now working with his son, Rohit has been fantastic. He has the story in his head. He is the boy who has come right from the soil," Jackie said in a PTI interview.
"With him, it always feels like going back home. He is a wonderful co-star. Still so focussed and dedicated to his craft. He loves his craft and you can see that," Katrina told indianexpress.com.
"He is very clear and precise about what he wants. He has an amazing team to support him," Katrina said in an interview with indianexpress.com.
While both Akshay and Katrina have not revealed much about their characters, in an earlier Instagram post announcing the film, Akshay had shared a note which said, “The desi Avengers of the Cop universe! When Bajirao ‘Singham’ meets Sangram ‘Simmba’ Bhalerao meets Veer #Sooryavanshi, expect not just fireworks but a full-blown blast.”
In a statement, Akshay Kumar said, “What a moment in cinematic history in India. To be the first to present our film Sooryavanshi at what is now called 24×7 Mumbai is just the best way any film fanatic can spend Gudi Padwa. I wish this initiative was around when I was young. I wouldn’t have bunked school so much.”
“My father was doing it. My mother and I knew, I will also do it. I started at the age of 16, I am 45 today. Stunts and action have become my identity now. I never thought it would go up to this level. I am happy and proud about it. The only thing is even if others are doing action today, people say, it is ‘Rohit Shetty’ style. That makes me happy and proud,” Rohit told PTI in an interview.
