NEW DELHI: After two more positive cases of the novel
coronavirus -- one in Delhi and another in
Telangana - were reported, Union health minister
Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that the patients have been kept under observation.
The Union minister said the patient from Delhi had traveled to Italy and the one from Telangana had traveled to Dubai. "Both the patients are stable and being closely monitored," the minister said.
"We are watching the situation in other countries and will extend travel restrictions to other countries also, if needed," Vardhan said.
For travel, Vardhan added, the existing visas, including Indian visas, from China and
Iran stand suspended. It is advised to avoid traveling to Iran, Italy, South Korea and Singapore.
He said, "Screening of passengers is being conducted at 21 airports, 12 major seaports, and 65 minor seaports across the country. 5,57,431 passengers have been screened so far at airports and 12,431 passengers have been screened on minor and major seaports."
Fifteen new laboratories have been made operational.
The Union minister said that all the health secretaries of the states have been taken in the loop and are sharing information regarding the virus.
"Home quarantine has been advised for cases under suspicion and we have taken their contact details and are keeping an eye on them," he informed.
Saying that people should not panic, Vardhan said that if anybody has symptoms of fever, cough, respitarrtoy difficulty, then they should contact the nearest health centre.
"Take care of your personal hygiene. We advise people to be mindful of cleanliness. Wash your hands regularly and keep your vicinity clean," he added.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan government said said an Italian tourist has tested positive for coronavirus in Jaipur.
The first sample collected from the tourist on February 29 tested negative but his condition deteriorated so a second sample was collected which tested positive on Monday.
