Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday said that the government will soon popularise that forwarding such material can land any person in jail for up to three years under IPC 153A and 505C and IT act 66A.
Bharadwaj is the chairman of Delhi assembly's committee on ‘Peace and Harmony', which held its first meeting on Monday.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Bharadwaj said that it will soon release a number and email address on which people can forward messages that they find online, which can incite violence between religious communities.
The committee will investigate the messages and forward them to law enforcement authorities to file FIRs, he said. The committee will also have a team of legal experts which will advise it if a criminal case can be made out in such instances.
