Redmi has officially confirmed the launch date for the Redmi Note 9 series on Twitter. Scheduled for an official announcement on March 12 at 12pm, the Redmi Note 9 series will consist of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro. According to the recent teaser posts put out by the Chinese electronics manufacturer on social media platforms, the Redmi Note 9 series will feature a quad-camera setup on the back panel. The new Redmi Note 9 series is expected to be priced around the Rs 15,000 mark.

The upcoming Redmi Note 9 series handsets will replace the outgoing Redmi Note 8 series, which consists of the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro(₹ 13999 at amazon). Based on the details we have with us at the moment, we believe the Redmi Note 9 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G Mobile Platform with up to 8GB of RAM. We also think the Redmi Note 9 series will be charged using a USB Type-C cable. Whether it will sport a screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a feature that is trending heavily of late, is hard to say at the moment.

The outgoing Redmi Note 8 is a low-end smartphone with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chip with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space. On the back, it houses as many as four cameras with the primary sensor being a 48MP unit. On the front, it houses a single 13MP camera for selfies. The Redmi Note 8 packs a 4000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. Sold in Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, and Space Black colours, the Redmi Note 8 starts at Rs 10,499.

The outgoing Redmi Note 8 Pro is a larger, more expensive version of the Redmi Note 8. It has a larger 6.53-inch HDR screen. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T chip with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space. On the back, it houses as many as four cameras with the primary sensor being a 64MP unit. On the front, it houses a single 20MP camera for selfies. The Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a larger 4500mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
