Forensic team to visit home today

Kollam: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the death of six-year-old Devananda started conducting basic evidence gathering on Sunday for scientific examinations to identify the reason for death.
After her family members raised suspicions on her death, forensic experts from Medical college, Thiruvananthapuram will reach her house at Elavoor near Nedumankavu on Monday as part of scientific investigations. The investigation team will also record the parents’ statements.
The SIT team on Sunday measured the distance from Devananda’s house to the river in which her body was found.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother, Dhanya, reiterated allegations of abduction. She said that the girl would not have gone to the riverbank by herself. She had not worn her shawl and had not gone to the nearby temple recently, Dhanya said.
Kummanam for expert probe
Meanwhile, BJP leader and former Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan who visited Devananda’s house demanded that a special investigation team of experts should be constituted to conduct a fool-proof probe into the girl’s death. Speaking to mediapersons here he said the girl’s family had raised some serious doubts of chances of abduction. tnn
