Commodities Index fell 0.73 per cent to 113.59 during the week ended Feb 29, 2020 from 114.42 the previous week, recording its 8th consecutive weekly decline. This week’s fall was led by cotton, edible oils, cereals and oilseeds. The
Maize Index fell 4.13 per cent during the week to settle at 128.62 and has fallen for 9 straight weeks from its peak of 184.04 during the week ended 28th Dec 2019. The base for the Index and all sub-Indices is 2014 (= 100). Seven of the nine commodity group sub-Indices and 21 of the 29 individual commodity sub-Indices that constitute the Index, declined during the week. The commodity group sub-Index values and their weekly changes are: Cereals: 113.81 (-0.96 per cent),
Pulses: 127.31 (-0.66 per cent), Potato & Onion: 104.51 (+0.89 per cent), Edible Oils: 121.60 (-1.12 per cent), Oilseeds: 109.70 (-0.68 per cent).
