HYDERABAD: Seven people suffered burns in two separate domestic gas leak-related fire accidents at Saroornagar and Malakpet in the early hours of Sunday.
In the incident at P&T Colony of Saroornagar, a family of seven, including three children, sensing LPG leak rushed out of their home around 2am. However, two brothers — S Ramesh, 31, and S Laxman, 25 — went back to retrieve cash.
When they switched on the light, it triggered the fire. “The fire spread to the neighbouring house, where Leelamma, 62, and her husband stays. She also sustained burn injuries. All three sustained 50-60% burn injuries and were shifted to Osmania Hospital ,” Saroornagar inspector Srinivas Reddy. A fire tender douse the blaze.
In another incident, the four members of a family, including two children, sustained burns after gas leakage at Asmangarh in Malakpet. The victims were identified as Laxamiah, 50 and his wife, Yadamma, 45, along with their grandchildren, Tejaswi, 7, and Mokshadna, 5. Laxmaiah’s daughter had gone to attend an event and left her children with her parents. “The victim forgot to switch off a burner and a spark from the refrigerator’s wire triggered a blast from the leaked LPG. Tejaswi sustained 10% burns, the rest nearly 40% injuries,” Malakpet SI said.
