PATNA: Unidentified armed criminals looted at least Rs 5 lakh from a petrol station employee at gunpoint in
Muzaffarpur on Monday afternoon.
Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant said petrol station employee Tribhuvan Prasad (65) was carrying around Rs 5 lakh in a bag to deposit it in a bank near Rajput Tola at
Kanhauli when six criminals on two bikes intercepted his bike and snatched the cash at
Leprosy Mission Chowk under
Mithanpura police station in the town. “Investigation is going on in this connection,” he said.
The petrol station is located few kilometres from the spot where the incident took place.
Sources said the criminals intercepted Prasad by overtaking his bike and pointed a pistol on him. They asked him to hand them over the bag containing money. Prasad handed over the bag to the criminals who fled from spot after firing few rounds in the air,” sources said.
Sources said Prasad narrated the matter to his the other staff at the petrol station after which police were informed. Sources said all the criminals had covered their faces with cloths and helmets. “No one dared chase the criminals as at least four of them were brandishing pistols,” sources added.
