Why Chevrolet is Betting Big Money on the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse

General Motors announced that it is adding 1200 employees. Most of those people will be building the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and the 2020 Buick Enclave. Why GM is betting big money on these family haulers.

Chevrolet is adding 800 employees working on a third shift to boost the production of the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and the 2020 Buick Enclave. Last year, GM invested $36 million in the same Lansing Delta Township plant for future mid-size SUV production.

Adding Workers to Meet Demand

“We are excited to provide these opportunities in Lansing,” said Phil Kienle, vice president, GM North American Manufacturing and Labor Relations. “Our team members have proven experience in building high-quality vehicles and are well-prepared to meet the needs of our customers.”

Much has been said and written about GM’s push to build more electrified vehicles, but the truth is that vehicles like the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave are what sells and what pays the bills.

The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse is a great family vehicle with seating for eight. It comes in seven different trim levels which means you can have all the bells and whistles that any driver could want. It has surround vision and a rear vision camera to make driving a larger vehicle easier. The extra camera views ensure that the driver knows what is around the vehicle so the driver is more confident, parking is also much more precise. When I’ve driven the Chevrolet Traverse it seems much less massive and easier to handle than the larger Suburban and Tahoe. It also has visual guides to make trailering easier.

Increased 2020 Chevrolet Traverse Connectivity Appeals to Families

The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse is loaded with entertainment and tech to keep the passengers busy. The Traverse has the ability to connect up to seven devices to the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. Several different sizes of infotainment touch screens are available depending on the trim level.

The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse is often compared with minivans because of its versatility and cargo space. In fact, it features best-in-class maximum cargo space at more than 98 cubic feet. The Traverse also has several family friendly conveniences like a hands-free lift gate, back seat reminder and active reminders to buckle up before a teenager can drive.

The 2020 Buick Enclave

The 2020 Buick Enclave offers similar family friendly increased connectivity and creature comforts. “Buyers are choosing the Buick Enclave because it is everything they want in a premium crossover with its distinct styling, quality and driving dynamics,” said Phil Brook, vice president of Buick and GMC marketing. “For the 2020 model year, we’re upping the comfort with available massaging seats, bringing in a new and different look for customers with Sport Touring and enhancing our in-vehicle technology to provide more of what these customers want.”

The third shift will be added in the next three months so that Chevrolet and Buick can boost production of both the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and the 2020 Buick Enclave.
