NAGPUR: An audio clip of a man demanding Rs15 lakh from a property dealer has helped cop filed an extortion complaint against him who had earlier filed a case of fraud against the dealer.
The accused has been identified as Gagan Chaurasiya, a resident of Sitabuldi.
According to police, Dhanraj Fuse, a property dealer, had a layout in Beltarodi and was selling residential plots. In August 2019, Fuse sold a plot to Gagan from his layout. However, after few days Gagan asked Fuse to give him another corner plot instead of the first one. Fuse transferred the corner plot in Gagan’s name.
After a few days, Fuse built his house on some of the plots in the layout, including the one he had earlier sold to Gagan.
Cops said, after Gagan learnt that Fuse had built the house on his earlier plot, he started demanding Rs15 lakh to sign a deed of transfer for the first plot. But when Fuse denied paying money to Gagan claiming that he had not paid for the second plot and it was given in exchange, the accused approached Beltarodi police station where a case of fraud was filed against Fuse.
Later, Fuse recorded an audio clip in which Gagan allegedly demanded Rs15 lakh from Fuse to sign the transfer deed of the first plot.
Fuse later approached Beltarodi police station with the clip. Officials, including senior PI VP Akot, took cognisance in the case and filed a case of extortion against Gagan.
“When the case of fraud was registered against Fuse he had not provided the audio clip. After we heard the audio clip, we registered the extortion case against Gagan. We have not made any arrests in both cases yet as the audio clip needs to be verified,” claimed PI Akot.
