KOLKATA: The city can expect
showers next week that would check the mercury from rising.
The Met office is keeping an eye on two weather systems: a high-pressure zone over the
Bay of Bengal and a trough extending from Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Once the two systems form, they are expected to bring rain to the city. “We are expecting rain on Monday as well as on Wednesday and Thursday. While the chance for rain on Monday is 30%-40%, that for other two days is 60%,” said director at Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata G K Das.
The Met office said the intensity of rain could be light to moderate, but there could be thundershowers. “These shower will prevent the mercury from jumping up abruptly,” Das said.
