GUNTUR: Stating that future generations would require to compete with the robots in performance, AP State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) vice-chairman Dr K Rammohan Rao has called upon the students to go out of the box and innovate new ideas. He said that routine studies and mere scores in the subjects would not help in the future after the development of artificial intelligence. Dr Rao was addressing at the annual sports and cultural festival at Vignan Nirula women’s engineering college on Friday.

The college campus at Palakalur village on the outskirts of the city was glittered with the presence of over 5000 girl students from different engineering colleges and universities across the state. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rao said that more than 30 million robots would be working in different industries in the next five years. “Competition might get bigger and tough with the arrival of robots in massive scale. You will be required to work overtime to outsmart the intelligence of robots and grab the lucrative jobs,” cautioned Dr Rao. He advised the students to learn at least a few foreign languages right at the degree level in order to get jobs in future. He said that expertise in big data, ethical hacking, networking and data science would be a must in the next few years.

Vignan group chairman Dr Lavu Rathaiah, however, said that only team work would pave for the success in future. He asked the students to become social animals to achieve success as no one could achieve success as singles in the coming days. He said that creativity and communication skills would only help the students outwit their competitors along with the scores in the subjects. “Don’t always think about big victories. Try to be courageous to face the defeat. It will only make you a champion,” said Dr Rathaiah. He said that Vignan is the only university that is giving special credits for the fitness and hence students should also focus on their physical fitness.

Vignan nirulotsav convenor Dr Venu Madhavi said that they were conducting competitions for the girl students in 53 categories under four core groups of technical, fine-arts, literary and sports. She said that technical presentation, project exhibition, short film contest, young manager, market makers and nail art were also part of the competitions. Noted television anchor Pradeep Machiraju, international athlete Purnima Mandava, principal Dr Pathuri Radhika, vice principal Dr Anuradha, Silpa Chaitanya and others were present. Later in the evening, the film crew of Ore Bujjika including hero Raj Tharun, music director Anoop Rubens and singer Meghana interacted with the students in the campus.
