PATNA: Ruling JD(U) leaders had to face embarrassment on Sunday after a video clip showing its Nawada MLA
Kaushal Yadav getting his leg massaged by workers during the party’s ‘Karyakarta Sammelan’ at the local Gandhi Maidan went viral on different social media platforms.
In the video, Yadav is being seen lying on the ground at the Gandhi maidan while two workers massaging his both legs in presence of other party workers. One of the workers is being seen preparing ‘khaini’ (chewing tobacco).
Contacted, Yadav told TOI that he got his leg injured while entering through a barricaded small gate at the Gandhi Maidan. “I got minor injury in the leg. Some workers offered to do massage so that I get immediate relief. It was nothing unusual,” he said.
On being asked whether he was getting massage around the main dais, Yadav said like other MLAs he was not sitting on the dais. “I was lying in the sun on the rear side of the Kartyakarta Sammelan at the Gandhi Maidan amidst my workers. It is my habit to remain within the workers when I come to participate in a party programme. I am a heart patient. Workers know it. As I was fully tired because of remaining busy in mobilizing workers for the Sammelan, some close workers offered to massage the legs,” Yadav, who is husband of Congress MLA
Purnima Yadav, said.
Kaushal, a four-time MLA, is a popular leader of Nawada district. He won Nawada seat in a by-election in 2019. Earlier, he represented
Gobindpur constituency in
Nawada district three times. Prior to him, his mother Gayatri Devi won MLA election from Gobindpur for four times.
