PATNA: A group of six armed criminals looted Rs 2.87 lakh from one of the branches of a financial firm near Zero Mile under the Agamkuan police station area in Patna City on Saturday.
More than 12 employees of the firm, Shriram Transport Finance Company Limited, and several customers were present when the criminals barged into the branch and committed the crime between 10.30am and 11am.
The criminals also fired targeting a person inside the office during the loot attempt. However, the pistol misfired and bullet fell down, according to an eyewitness.
The criminals hit branch team leader Ganesh Kumar in the head with a pistol. Firm’s junior executive Sonika Kumari, told media persons that the criminals looked for the keys of the cash box after entering the office. However, the criminals failed to lay hand on bulk cash as it was remitted from the branch last evening. They then looted the money from the customers and fled.
Patna City SDPO Manish Kumar said the criminals were inside the office of the firm for 10 to 12 minutes. “We have gathered CCTV footages from the office and efforts are on to arrest the criminals. A similar incident had taken place at the branch in the past too,” he added.
SHO of Agamkuan police station Abhijeet Kumar said branch manager Rajan Kumar Singh has lodged an FIR in connection with the incident.
