PUNE: The Nigdi police on Saturday registered an offence against a senior official working with a non-government company for demanding sexual favours from his female junior officer.
The suspect was harassing the 31-year-old for the past four months and had even threatened to removed her from the job. Frustrated over the harassment, the woman on Saturday approached the Nigdi police and lodged an FIR. The police have booked the suspect under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A(sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.
An officer from the Nigdi police told TOI that the suspect is working as the project head in the complainant’s company. “The woman stated in her complaint that whenever she used to go to meet him to report about her work, he used to talk in lewd language,” the officer said.
The officer said that the suspect used to demand sexual favours from her. “When the woman did not respond to him, he even had threatened her that he can remove her from job,” officer said.
In the last week, the suspect had told the woman that he would be coming to her area and told her to come out with him. He also told her that he would drop her back in the evening so that no one would suspect anything. “The terrified woman came to us and lodged the complaint. Our probe is on,” the officer said.
