Varanasi: In the wake of the expanding reach of Coronavirus (COVID-19) which has claimed several patients in Asian countries, two South Korean nationals staying in Sonbhadra for a professional project have been asked to work from home as a precautionary measure.
No Coronavirus cases have been reported in Sonbhadra so far. The foreign nationals are among the 50 Korean citizens living in Sonbhadra and are employed by the South Korean conglomerate Doosan Group, which is constructing two power generation units of 660 MW each at Obra in the district.
Talking to TOI on Saturday, manager (human resources) of Doosan Group’s India office Lal Babu Jha said, “Three South Korean employees working in the district are on leave. Of them, Don Kim and Denam Kim returned to Obra after a vacation in South Korea on February 25 and 26 respectively. The two were screened at airports in New Delhi and Varanasi airports and were not found to be infected by COVID-19.”
“The company has asked the two to work remotely for a fortnight as a precaution. A team of district health department also examined them,” said Jha.
Jha said that Doosan Group has roped in around 4,000 employees for the power generation projects in Obra. Of these, 50 are South Korean nationals.
The projects have been commissioned by Uttar Pradesh Power Production Corporation.
