HYDERABAD: Following a tweet and picture by Hyderabad City Police showing Rapid Action Force personnel carrying out a flag march near Charminar, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (
AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP
Asaduddin Owaisi questioned as to why the flag march was conducted only near
Charminar and not other parts of the city.
“Why only at CHARMINAR ,why not in front of Secunderabad Railway Station or at Hi Tec City maybe in front of a US Software company?” Owaisi tweeted.
The tweet garnered mixed responses with many lauding the Hyderabad MP while many opposing his words. “Kindly enlighten the world how many times curfew was imposed around Charminar and how many times in front of Secbad station,” tweeted one user. Some users alleged that this was a tactic being enforced by the Centre.
Earlier, Maulana Husamuddin Sani, a speaker at an anti-CAA, NPR and NRC protest held on February 24 had criticised Telangana home minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali and
Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar.
“Is home minister powerful or is police commissioner powerful? The police commissioner who himself claims to be secular suddenly says that Shaheen Bagh-like protests will not be allowed. What happened to him? Let us all send bouquets to him,” Sani had said.
