Day after Punjab budget, ad for 2,182 teachers in border schools

CHANDIGARH: A day after the presentation of the state budget proposal for the financial year 2020-21, the Punjab school education department on Saturday advertised 2,182 posts of master and mistress cadre of various subjects under the border cadre category.
Education minister Vijay Inder Singla said his department has initiated the recruitment process for the posts of Hindi, Punjabi, Mathematics, Social Studies, English and Science subject teachers under the border cadre category. The move is aimed at providing quality education to the children of border areas, he added.
The minister said there are 40 posts of Hindi master/mistress, 60 of Punjabi subject, 450 of Mathematics, 52 of Social Studies, 880 posts of English and 700 posts of Science to be filled under the cadre. Eligible candidates can apply online on education department’s website www.educationrecruitmentboard.com from February 29 to March 18. Terms and conditions for these posts have also been given on the website.
Singla has directed his department officials to complete the recruitment process in a time-bound manner. The minister said the Punjab school education department has filled around 8,000 posts of teachers of various subjects, besides officer cadre in last three years. These posts were of master and mistress of different subjects, meritorious school teachers, elementary teachers’ backlog of persons with disabilities and family members of freedom fighters, centre head teachers, head teachers, physical education lecturers, principals, headmasters and block primary education officers.
