In a move to further delay execution in Nirbhaya case, convict Akshay filed a fresh mercy plea claiming that his earlier petition that was dismissed by President Ram Nath Kovind did not have all the facts. The Patiala House Court notified the execution of the convicts on March 3. Akshay’s mercy plea was rejected by the President in first week of February. Earlier today, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court asking the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to conduct an enquiry and submit a report with regard to violations of the human rights of the four convicts in jail.
