India vs New Zealand (IND vs NZ) 2nd Test Day 2 Highlights: Sixteen wickets fell on Day 2 of the 2nd Test in Christchurch on Sunday, leaving India at 90/6 with a lead of 97 runs at Stumps.
Mayank Agarwal (3) departed early. Prithvi Shaw (14) was also undone in the 9th over. Virat Kohli (14) was caught lbw by Colin de Grandhomme with more than one hour’s play left in the day. Ajinkya Rahane (9) was gone with a few minutes left in the day, to bring out Umesh Yadav as nightwatchman. Cheteshwar Pujara (24) and Umesh Yadav (1) were also picked up towards the end of the day. Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari saw India through to the end of the day.
Earlier, New Zealand were bowled out for 235 at the Tea break. In the morning session, there were 79 runs added for 5 wickets by New Zealand. New Zealand started the day from 63/0, trailing India by 179 runs. Tom Blundell (30) was trapped lbw by Umesh Yadav and Kane Williamson (3) was edged and caught by the keeper off Bumrah. Ross Taylor (15) stuck around with Tom Latham till the hour-mark, before he top edged Ravindra Jadeja to be caught out. Tom Latham (52) was bowled by Mohammed Shami soon after he got his 50. Henry Nicholls (14) was caught in the slips to give India their fifth wicket of the session. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in one over – BJ Watling and Tim Southee both departing for ducks – after the Lunch break. Colin de Grandhomme and Kyle Jamieson then put up a partnership for the 8th wicket before Grandhomme was bowled by Jadeja. Neil Wagner then added 51 runs with Jamieson before Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a one-handed stunner at the boundary to get Wagner out.

Vihari and Pant survive till the end of Day 1. 15 wickets fell today - most in a single day's play at Hagley Oval. India lost a spate of wickets in the last session to reach the end of play at 90/6 after 36 overs, with a lead of 97 runs. Pant and Vihari will resume the Indian innings tomorrow on Day 3. Another 100 runs would bring up a very interesting 4th innings.

Hanuma Vihari is the new man in. New Zealand are in a hurry to go through their overs now. Wagner continues with Vihari and Umesh also looking to block through to the end of the day. The number of wickets that have fallen on Day 2 proves that there is still a game on our hands on Day 3. A lead of 200 would make this a contest but India would even take a lead of 150 at this stage to make a game of this. Vihari times Wagner through the gap on the off side for four. Trent Boult bowls Pujara out. Gets the ball to swing in through Pujara'a gate. And Pujara's defiant resistance ends. After doing all the hard work . Was there for 88 balls. Has to go now for 24 runs. India lose their fifth wicket with 10 minutes to go on Day 2. This gives New ealand the edge ahead of Day 3. Could they get even more in the few minutes that remain? IND 84/5 after 33.1 overs
Pujara drives Wagner down the ground and the batsmen run three. That gets Umesh on strike in the Wagner over for five balls. Umesh swings his bat at it. Single to fine leg. Boult brought on to bowl one final spell in the day. Pujara blocks him out. Then ducks out of the way of a bouncer. India want to take as much time up between deliveries as possible. New Zealand want to get as many overs in as possible. Preferably with Umesh on strike. Pujara takes a single down the leg side to get Umesh on strike. Umesh plays out the rest of the over. With less than 20 minutes left to close of play, Umesh Yadav is on at No.6. He comes on as a nightwatchman to occupy Pujara to the end of the day. Wagner gets the wicket! Rahane chops it on to his stumps. Was not as short a ball as Rahane would have expected. Wagner is fired up in his celebration. Ajinkya Rahane's 43-ball vigil ends. Rahane survives by the skin of his teeth again. Edges Jamieson to end the 30th over but yet again the ball does not carry to the fielder. Survival the need of the hour for the batsmen. IND 71/3 after 30 overs, lead by 78 runs
Jamieson, and New Zealand in general, are peppering the Indian batsmen with short deliveries and both Pujara and Rahane are being made to look very uncomfortable. The blow to Rahane also playing on the batsmens' head also maybe. Wagner pitches it in short again. Rahane moves away. Challenging time for the batsmen in this last half hour. IND 70/3
Rahane cops a solid blow on the side of the helmet. He is continuing to take the short ball on. Tries to pull Jamieson. Misses. Gets hit plumb on the metal on the helmet. Rahane has a wide smile on his face after that but that will have shaken him up. Physio is out.
Rahane takes on the short ball from Wagner yet again. Rahane now living dangerously. One bounce and to the fielder in the deep. Wagner has something unpleasant to say to Pujara as the batsman ducks out of the way of a bouncer. There is one very angry bowler with the ball at the moment. Another long hard stare from Wagner to Pujara as the over ends with another similar evasive act from the batsman. IND 69/3 after 27 overs
Rahane is paying New Zealand pay for that missed chance already. Gets a four off the gloves to fine leg off Jamieson. He is then struck on the rim of the helmet. Fiery stuff from Jamieson but Rahane is managing to withstand the pressure for now. IND 68/3 after 26 overs
A moment of madness in the Test. Ajinkya Rahane loses his head and goes for the pull shot off Wagner against a packed leg side field. The shot is mistimed. Colin de Grandhomme runs in and drops the catch. His teammates cannot bear to look at him now. Wagner, who was already looking angry, will be fuming inside now. IND 63/3 after 25 overs
Jamieson replaces Grandhomme. Probably Southee and Boult are being saved up for a final burst of pace at the end of Day 2. The job for Rahane and Pujara is just to stick on till the end of Day 2. If New Zealand can get a fourth wicket today, that would leave them with a huge upper hand at the end of Day 3.

The drinks break to signal the last hour of the day is taken. Colin de Grandhomme bowls for New Zealand after the break and starts off with a maiden over. Jamieson bowls to Kohli after that. Was hit for boundaries in his 1st over today, can he trouble Kohli in his second?
Jamieson, who has been a thorn in India's side throughout this series, is brought on as the third seamer. Took a fifer in the first innings. Scored 49* with the bat earlier today across two sessions. And Kohli drives jamieson early on. Width on offer and four runs! Rocketed to the fence. New Zealand would not mind Kohli going for his drives early on. And Kohli gets four more with a push with soft hands to third man. Two boundaries for Kohli in that over. He was out to Jamieson in the first innings. He will be looking to make some amends. IND 48/2
Kohli is off! With a boundary. Flicks Southee off the pads into the midwicket region. Pujara then takes a knock on his gloves as Boult digs it in short. VVS Laxman points out that Prithvi Shaw's back foot is planted on the crease too firmly every time he has gout out to the short ball in New Zealand. IND 40/2
Pujara gets a four down to third man. He wanted to leave it though but could not control the shot as the Southee ball came into him. Southee and Boult continue peppering the Indian batsmen. Boult gets Kohli swinging and missing early on. The skipper yet to get off the mark. This is the last chance for him to make amends for what has been a poor tour as a batsman. Prithvi Shaw - showing much more restraint than the first innings - and Pujara are in the middle for India with runs not coming very easily at the moment. New Zealand go up in loud appeals as Southee gets the ball to leave Pujara's edge. Not much space between bat and ball there. Pujara gets an outside edge to run down to third man for three runs after that. Prithvi Shaw gets three more runs in the same area. This was hit with more conviction though. Trent Boult takes the new ball alongside Southee. He had disappointing figures in the 1st innings even as Southee and Jamieson ran through the Indian batting order. Agarwal gets a couple of runs down to leg side with a thick inside edge.

New Zealand played out a session yesterday at the end of the day without loss of wickets. India will be aiming to do something similar.
An early Tea break has been taken. We shall have a little more than two hours of India's second innings when action resumes after the break. Jamieson and Wagner's partnership of more than 50 runs frustrated India in the afternoon session, but India will be mightily pleased at how their bowlers have brought them back into the match. India to start their 2nd innings with a lead of 7 runs after a break of 20 minutes.
Kyle Jamieson is gone for 49. Rishabh Pant takes a great running catch to hold on to the catch as there is a top edge that loops up in the air. New Zealand all out for 235. India lead by 7 runs at the end of the first innings for both teams.
Jamieson smashes Bumrah for four down the ground to start off the next over. Jamieson is nearing his 50. The battle for the first innings lead is well and truly on now. There is a long delay as Jamieson is hit on the helmet by Bumrah and concussion protocols are followed. NZ 234/9, trail by 8 runs

Another boundary for Wagner as he cuts Shami with force. 51 runs added by this pair now off just 68 balls and India are becoming increasingly beused by this partnership. Shami digs in a bouncer at Wagner. The bouncer is causing Wagner some trouble but he has dealt with it competently till now.
Bumrah is brought back as the New Zealand 9th wicket pair add 38 runs. This is becoming a very frustrating partnership for India. Wagner clips Bumrah off the pads for two runs down to the leg side. And then Wagner drives Bumrah through the covers for four as India's frustrations continue. Bumrah gets Wagner ducking with a short ball and then gives Wagner a stare.
