I-T dept conducts raids against bizmen, architect

Ludhiana: The investigation wing of the income-tax department, Punjab, conducted a raid against a yarn manufacturer of the city on Wednesday evening. A similar action was taken against an architect, where the raid was executed by the Mohali unit of the department, sources said.
Sources in the department said the action was taken in connection with alleged tax evasion committed by a Mohali-based builder. Both Ludhiana-based businessman and architect were associated with the builder. The principal director of investigation wing, Punjab, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
The action comes in the wake of repeated warnings by the department to businessmen to pay their taxes honestly. No details of the raids are out as I-T department is carrying out an investiagtion.
