Four desalination plants to be set up

RAJKOT: The state government will form special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to set up four desalination plants in Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar and Kutch districts.
Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited has formed a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with Mumbai-based Shapoorji Pallonji & Company and Aquatic System Asia Pvt Ltd to implement the desalination plant projects over the next two years.
“Two desalination plants are proposed to be set up at Gandhavi village of Devbhoomi Dwarka districtand Ghogha near Bhavnagar with capacity fo 7 crore litre water per day each and at Gundiyali village of Mandvi taluka in Kutch district with capacity of 10 crore litre water. Another plant with capacity of three crore litre per day will be set up at Vadodara Zala village of Sutrapada taluka in Gir-Somnath district ,” according to an official release.
