Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal's upcoming wedding: Everything we know so far

The couple recently confirmed the rumours of their wedding in April 2020 with an official statement. From the exact dates to the wedding venue, here's everything we know so far

Rumours of Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha’s much-awaited wedding have been doing the rounds for the longest time. The Fukrey co-stars, who have reportedly been dating since 2015, made their first public appearance two years later at the premiere for Fazal's film Victoria & Abdul at the 74th Venice International Film Festival. Unlike most Bollywood couples, the couple has never tried to keep their romance under wraps, and has been spotted together at several occasions over the span of their relationship. So it comes as no surprise that Fazal and Chadha let their fans know about their wedding, that is to take place two months from now, with a public announcement.

“Currently, only the date for the registration has been taken. By process, the window that is valid is for three months from the date that has been allotted. The couple are working towards an official registration in the last week of April post which the celebrations will follow. All we can say at the moment is that it’s a happy occasion and all the parties involved are elated,” the couple’s spokesperson revealed in light of their application for a marriage registration.

According to reports, the duo will zero down on a final wedding date in a week’s time, but are considering April 21, 23 and 24 for the celebrations. They have also blocked a couple of prime hotels for the impending nuptials. In most likelihood, they will host the main ceremony in New Delhi, Chadha’s hometown, followed by a court marriage and reception in Fazal’s hometown Lucknow. Like many of the Bollywood couples before them, they are likely to host one party in Mumbai for their friends from the fraternity.

Though they didn’t reveal any marriage plans until recently, fans had a close eye on the pair since their December 2018 vacation to Maldives. Although Chadha's 32nd birthday was the excuse for the beach vacation, Fazal proposed to her on the trip. “We were stranded on an island briefly in Maldives. Just when I thought I couldn't be surprised any more... or things couldn't get better... thank you, Ali Fazal... that's the most special thing anyone's ever done for me...(second to my parents giving me life of course). Blessed, blissful and beautiful,” Chadha captioned her posts.
