NAVI MUMBAI: A teacher at a civic school in Navi Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing 17 girl students in Mahape.
The 31-year-old was appointed in November 2018 to teach basics of computers to students of classes 6 to 8. The girls have alleged that he used to touch them inappropriately in class, said deputy commissioner of police Pankaj Dahane. The teacher was recruited by an NGO and was teaching on a contractual basis at the civic school.
Dahane further said, "The matter came to light when the class teacher found that the students were being called for computer class on holidays. "A few girls told the class teacher that the computer teacher touched them inappropriately in class. The class teacher informed the principal and the matter was reported to the police. A criminal offence was lodged at Turbhe MIDC police station on Tuesday.
