It was a kaleidoscope of colours as the Noida Stadium in Sector 21 hosted the 34th Noida
Flower Show. Dianthus was the theme
flower of this year and beautiful arrangements of the same greeted visitors right at the entrance. Over 3,500 species of flowers were showcased at the event and nearly 40 nurseries and 35 stalls were a part of the show, catering to gardening requirements of visitors. Quirky planters and pots in various shapes and sizes were a big hit at the show. “I have bought a planter in the shape of a cute frog for my office desk and another watermelon one to keep by my bed at home. The variety available here is not found anywhere else or even on online stores,” said Vasudha, a visitor from Sector 76. Saplings of herbal plants like
parsley, thyme, celery,
rosemary and basil were also in high demand. “We sold around 500 saplings of these plants at the show, daily. There is an increasing trend among customers looking to grow their own food and many like to start with herbal plants since they are small,” said Vikram, a vendor from Sahibabad. Various competitions were also organised at the show such as cut flower decoration and vegetable carving competitions apart from
bonsai exhibition and nature photography.
