Delhi violence: Haryana Police issues security advisory

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Police on Wednesday issued an advisory on law and order situation across the state, especially for the districts adjoining Delhi, in the wake of recent violence in the national capital during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Additional director general of police (law and order) Navdeep Singh Virk said in the advisory that several incidents of violence, stone pelting and arson have been taken place in Delhi in the last two days. As a precautionary measure, the advisory has been issued to all commissioners of police and superintendents of police in Haryana. The police force has been asked to be extra vigilant and take all-out measures to prevent any occurrence of violence in their respective jurisdictions.
In view of the recent development in Delhi, police officers have been directed to take necessary precautions and mobilise all possible resources to maintain law and order and peace across the state, especially in Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat and Nuh districts. The police have increased patrolling across the state and also intensified vigil in the borders adjoining national capital, he added.
The advisory also calls for maintaining a close coordination between deputy commissioners, SDMs, tehsildars and other departments concerned for effective handling of law and order situation, appointment of duty magistrates and promulgation of prohibitory orders, if required.
Cautioning people against sharing misleading information in social media platforms, he urged them not to fall in the trap of rumour mongers and extend their cooperation in maintaining peace in the society. He also warned anti-social elements that any attempt to vitiate law and order and create violence would be dealt strictly as per the law.
