Man gets 10 years in jail for raping four-month pregnant relative

Surat: A 25-year-old man was convicted for raping a four-month pregnant woman four years ago and sentenced him to 10 years in jail.
A trial court on Wednesday convicted Munno Lumbhani for raping the 19-year-old woman at knife-point According to case details, Lumbhani had raped the woman five times between 1am and 4pm on May 12, 2015.
The convict, a relative of the survivor, was staying with her family. The crime happened when the woman had come to live with her husband, who she had married a few months back.
On May 11, the survivor's husband had gone to Ahmedabad for some work. The woman was alone at home with the accused.
Police said that Lumbhani raped the woman five times after confining her at knife-point. The woman informed her husband after Lumbhani left the house around 4pm on May 12, 2015.
The woman did not lodge police complaint on the same day fearing social stigma. But after discussing it with her family, she Varachha police station on May 14.
“The court considered scientific evidences and forensic reports while convicting Lumbhani,” said Rajesh Dobariya, public prosecutor.
