PATNA: Unidentified motorbike-borne criminals shot at a
sand trader while he was about to enter his residence at Mohammadpur village under the
Paliganj police station area in
Patna district on Tuesday night.
The seriously injured trader was identified as Chandan Kumar (35). He was on his bike and was about to enter his house when criminals opened fire around 9.30pm. Paliganj police station SHO Praveen Kumar Singh said that two criminals shot Chandan from close range.
“He sustained injuries on the right side of his abdomen and left arm. He was rushed to a private hospital in a critical condition where he had undergone a surgery,” the SHO said and added that after preliminary investigation, it had surfaced that old rivalry over sand trading was the reason behind the incident.
“He was initially taken to PMCH. However, family members later shifted him to a private hospital on Bailey Road. Police on Wednesday morning went to the hospital to record his statement,” he said.
The SHO said that once the police team returns after recording the victim’s statement, things would further become clear. “At present no specific name of any accused has surfaced. We are waiting for the victim’s statement to lodge an FIR and carry further investigation,” the SHO said adding no suspect had been detained in connection with the incident.
