Prayagraj: STF busts mass copying racket, 3 arrested

PRAYAGRAJ: Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday busted a gang involved in mass copying during UP board exams and arrested three of its members from Pipri area in Kaushambi district.
Police recovered three mobile phones, Rs 11,340 cash, 13 whatsapp chat screen shots, aadhaar cards and 31 answersheets.
Those arrested were identified as Yuvraj Singh Yadav, Rajan Babu Singh of Pipri and Pradeep Kumar alias Pappu Lal of Charwa.
Additional SP (STF) Neeraj Kumar Pandey told TOI, “Acting upon a specific input that members of a mass copying racket are active at several schools in Pipri and Charwa localities of Kaushambi, a team of STF (Prayagraj unit) carried out a series of raids and nabbed three of its key operatives.”
“STF seized as many as 31 answersheets on Wednesday afternoon before they could be delivered to the examination cenres for submission,” added Pandey.
During interrogation, the arrested trio revealed that the copies were written on the directives of one Lala Yadav alias Bhagandar, resident of Tiyra village under Pipri police station.
They confessed that Lala Yadav was working for managers of the two private colleges located in Aswaral Kala and Singraur areas and the seized answersheets were to be delivered to the same colleges.
While Rs 5,000 each was paid to Pappu and Rajan, Yuvraj had received Rs 10,000 for delivering answersheets to colleges, said police.
STF claimed that two of the racketeers identified as KK Mishra and Siddarth Singh were charging Rs 35,000 cash per candidate to provide written answersheets for all papers.
