Violence Centre-sponsored to silence the protest, say Shaheen Bagh dadis Bilkis & Sarvari

Thiruvananthapuram: As 75-year-old Sarvari raised her hand to shout ‘inquilab ayega’, the crowd assembled for the ‘occupy Raj Bhavan’ protest in the state capital responded in solidarity with Shaheen Bagh protesters.
Sarvari and 82-year-old Bilkis, popularly know as ‘Shaheen Bagh dadis’ (grandmothers) after they led the protest against CAA and NRC in Delhi, were in Thiruvananthapuram to participate in ‘occupy Raj Bhavan’ protest organised by Welfare Party on Wednesday.
Sarvari condemned the Modi government for unleashing attack on innocent people to suppress their protests and said these atrocities will only strengthen their voice. “We have a Constitution which speaks about equal rights. The country does not belong to him (Modi). How can a Prime Minister do this to his country. We the people elected him (Modi) as our PM. Claiming to bring peace, Modi, Amit Shah and their police are attacking innocent people,” said Sarvari.
“Modi speaks about ‘beti bachao, beti padhao’. When the girls are being assaulted in the country, how will they study and lead a life. We have completed 75 days of protest on road and will continue doing it. If we die, we will die in this land,” Sarvari added.Speaking about her Thiruvananthapuram visit from New Delhito participate in the protest here, Bilkis said the whole country was coming to Shaheen Bagh to support their protest and it is their responsibility to attend similar protests across the country.
“If we can travel at this age for the cause, youngsters can do more to save the Constitution and the country. The government and police are trying to sabotage our peaceful protests and promote the black law through riots. We do not want this kind of Prime Minister. Many people were killed in past few days, still nothing has been done by the government. We will continue the protest till the government decides to revoke their decision. We have faith in court’s decision regarding NRC and if we do not get a favourable verdict, the protest will continue,” said Bilkis.
They also criticised the central government for spending so much on US president Donald Trump’s visit while people are struggling to find a living. Sarvari will be returning to Shaheen Bagh to join the protest, while Bilkis will be travelling to Kolkata to participate in another CAA protest.
On the second day of the protest, Congress leader K Muraleedharan MP and CMP leader C P John also spoke. The Welfare Party protest in which hundreds of people lay siege to Raj Bhavan for 30 hours concluded on Wednesday evening.
