Lion injured in infighting dies

Rajkot: A male lion aged nearly 10 years which was found injured on Tuesday night died during treatment on Wednesday. According to the forest department, the lion was found during regular patrolling in Bhaniya round of Tulsishyam- Khamhbha range in Gir east division on Tuesday night, a part of the sanctuary area. The lion was rescued successfully and sent to Jasadhar animal care centre, where, it succumbed to injuries during treatment.
“The lion had major injuries on its back due to infighting with another male. It died at the animal care centre from these inuries,” said a statement by the forest department. The post mortem was done in the presence of senior officials and veterinary doctor.
