Nagpur: Homeopathy practitioners from the city have demanded that they should get opportunity to work on government posts as doctors at health and wellness centres, 108 ambulances and in rural hospitals. Presently, only graduates of modern medicines (MBBS) and ayurveda (BAMS) can be recruited for the government jobs.
More than 900 homeopathy practitioners from Vidarbha had a meeting at Antarbharti Homeopathic Medical College (AHMC) in Dabha recently. Dr Dhanaji Bagal, dean of homeopathy at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) presided over the meet. Founder of AHMC Dr Madhukar Zite was felicitated on the occasion. Practising
homeopaths also demanded that AIIMS Nagpur should have a separate homeopathy section.
“Nagpur is emerging as a medical hub of Central India, but we don’t have a government homeopathic college in city. AIIMS is now functioning and it has a separate AYUSH unit. We want homeopathy to get prominence in this unit,” said Dr Manish Patil of Orange City Homeopaths Association (OCHA).
“India has over 250 homeopathic medical institutes and around 2,50,000 homeopathic doctors. AHMC is one of the pioneering institutes in homeopathy. In last 45 years, it has trained more than 2,000 doctors. Unfortunately, such old institution in Nagpur still don’t have master’s degree (MD) course. This college should get 100 seat intake of BHMS and permission for MD course,” he added.
