NEW DELHI: Shares of energy firms were in the red in Thursday's trade.

Shares of Tata Power Company (down 3.44 per cent), Adani Transmissions (down 3.35 per cent), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (down 2.35 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 1.8 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (down 1.75 per cent) were among the top losers.

NTPC (down 1.33 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 1.29 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.16 per cent) and Reliance Industries (down 0.74 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Energy index was trading 1.35 per cent down at 13,997.55 around 11:08 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 112.50 points at 11,566.0, while the BSE Sensex was 362.47 points at 39526.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 4 were trading in the green, while 46 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, Indiabulls Housing, Ashok Leyland, JSPL, GMR Infra, PNB and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
