EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Benchmark indices were trading lower for the fifth straight session on Thursday amid growing concerns over the spread of novel coronavirus outside China and ahead of the expiry of the February series derivative contracts today.
The S&P BSE Sensex was down 291 points, or 0.73 per cent, at 39,610 levels. HCL Tech, TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra, and HDFC Bank (all down 1%) were the top laggards in the Sensex pack.
The broader Nifty50 index gave up the 11,600 level, down 83 points, or 0.72 per cent.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were in the red. Nifty IT index, down 1 per cent, bled the most.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index slipped 70 points, or 0.47 per cent, and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was down 54 points, or 0.38 per cent.
