Coronavirus Effect: Japan PM Requests All Schools to Close from March 2 till Spring Break

Shinzo Abe has called on all elementary, junior high and high schools across the nation to temporarily close to prevent the spread of infection.

Tokyo: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday has called on all public schools to close from Monday until the end of their spring season to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

"The government considers the health and safety of children above anything else," Abe said. "We request all primary, junior high and high schools... across the nation to close temporarily from March 2 next week until their spring break," Abe added.
