Gujarat: Man rapes 14-year-old daughter in Padra

VADODARA: A 14-year-old girl from a village in Padra taluka was allegedly raped by her own father on February 24 when she had come home during Mahashivratri holidays. The girl’s father, a farm labourer, was arrested on Tuesday after she lodged a complaint with Padra police station along with her aunt.
According to the girl’s complaint, she lives at a hostel as her parents had divorced 12 years ago. She had come to stay with her father during her school holidays that began February 19. But she fell ill and took a sick leave to rejoin after February 24.
On February 24 afternoon, when the girl was asleep in the front room of her house, her father woke her up and pulled her into another room. The girl told police that the accused first molested her and then allegedly raped her.
After the committing the crime, man put the girl back on the bed in the front room. An hour later, he again woke her up asking her to eat food, to which she refused. The girl threatened to complain to her uncle and aunt about what the accused had done. However, the accused threatened to commit suicide if she told about what has happened to anyone.
In the evening, the girl went to her aunt’s house and informed her about the rape. When her aunt asked if she had been raped in the past, the girl said that a year ago too her father had allegedly raped her and threatened to commit suicide if she told anyone. Her aunt took her to the police station next day where she registered the complaint.
“We have arrested the accused, but there was no sense of regret in his statement or conversation of the accused,” said a police official. He added that the girl’s medical check-up was also done.
