Israel sees positive growth in tourist arrivals in January
The Israel Government Tourist Office has released tourist arrivals figures for January 2020, boasting 308,500 tourists, up 8% from January 2019 and 20% from January 2018. This translated to revenue of NIS 1.5 billion (USD 438.48 million).
Of these arrivals, 13,000 were from the UK, representing an increase of 4% from 2019 and 17% from 2018.
Sharon E. Bershadsky, director of Israel Government Tourist Office in UK said: “We’re pleased to see such strong figures in the first month of 2020 and believe it will set us up for an exciting year ahead. It’s a pleasure to see continued growth in the number of travellers visiting Israel from the UK, who are looking for warmer weather, vibrant culture and delicious food at the coldest time of the year.”
Minister of tourism, Yariv Levin said: “Tourism records continue to shatter, and we end January 2020 with an 8% increase in incoming tourism on January 2019 and 20% more than in January 2018. The revolution in marketing policy that we are leading at the ministry is making its mark, and we hope that we can maintain this positive momentum throughout 2020.”
