Ahmedabad: A 64-year-old man from New Ranip on Monday filed a complaint with the Sabarmati police stating that a man aged around 25 had cheated him by withdrawing Rs 45,000 with his ATM card.
The complainant said that the accused had swapped his card at an ATM centre in the New Ranip area on Sunday evening.
In his FIR filed with the Sabarmati police, Nikul Adhwaryu, a resident of Gold Apartments in New Ranip, said that he works as a supervisor with a private company and had gone to the ATM on Sunday evening to withdraw cash.
Adhwaryu said that the ATM had run out of cash. When he was about to leave, the accused entered and offered to help him. The man took Adhwaryu’s ATM card and tried to make transactions. After a while, he told Adhwaryu that the ATM had run out of cash and gave back a card.
Adhwaryu drove back home on his scooter and mid-way he received a message that Rs 45,000 had been deducted from his account. When he checked his bank statement, he found that the money had been withdrawn in three transactions from the same ATM. On checking his card, Adhwaryu found that it was not his.
