SURAT: Two unidentified
robbers snatched a gold chain worth Rs2 lakh from a 30-year-old textile weaving unit owner here on Monday. When the victim began to chase the robbers on his bike, they took out a knife before kicking his
motorcycle which resulted in his losing control and collapsing on a road. The businessman suffered multiple injuries on his face and hands. He received 14 stitches on face as his lips had got ruptured.
Ravi Patel, a resident of
Althan, was returning home from his weaving unit on his motorcycle. He was about to enter Sterling Avenue at around 9.15pm when the robbers riding a motorcycle came close and sped away after snatching 60 gram gold chain that he was wearing.
"They snatched the chain in just one attempt and started escaping. Ravi immediately started chasing the robbers on his motorcycle. He chased the robbers for over one kilometre. When they reached a desolate road near Gandhi Kutir turn, the robbers took out a knife," said Amrat Patel, father of Ravi.
"Ravi was about to nab the robbers when they showed him the knife and one of them also kicked his motorcycle," said Amrat. Ravi, who fell on the road and suffered multiple injuries, got himself treated at a private hospital.
