Bihar: Koilwar bridge to remain shut twice a week

ARA: The northern lane of the Abdul Bari bridge, popularly known as the Koilwar bridge, which connects Ara and Buxar to Patna, will be shut from 7am to 5 pm for road traffic every Wednesday and Sunday from February 26 to May 24.
This was informed by the Bhojpur district public relations officer (DPRO) Pramod Kumar.
The DPRO said that Bhojpur DM Roshan Kushwaha has passed this order on the request of deputy chief engineer, East Central Railway, Hajipur, for the repair work to be carried out on the northern lane. The DM has asked the district transport officer (DTO), SDO (sadar) and SDPO to establish coordination among themselves and take the help of Koilwar SHO and traffic in charge for regulating traffic and maintaining law and order during this period.
The SDO and the SDPO have been asked to deploy adequate number of magistrates and police personnel every Wednesday and Sunday for maintaining law and order during the repair work . They been also directed to coordinate with their counterparts in Danapur for taking appropriate steps for the smooth flow of traffic under their jurisdiction so that no inconvenience is caused to commuters.
SDO (sadar) Arun Prakash said that during the repair work, heavy vehicles will not be allowed even on the southern lane. Only passenger buses and four-wheelers will be allowed to ply on the southern lane during the repair work . To avoid traffic jam during the period , vehicles will be allowed to depart after every half-an-hour from Bhojpur side for going towards Patna.
The Bhojpur DM has also asked the officials to put up big banners and bill boards on both ends of the Koilwar bridge informing the public about the timings of the repair work on the northern lane. He has also asked to use loud speakers for informing the commuters.
