Cabinet nod to police, forensic and Ayush universities in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its go ahead to a UP Police and Forensic University in Lucknow. The UP Police and Forensic Science University Bill (2020) will be tabled in both houses.
A senior government official said, “The need for such university was felt as existing forensic laboratories were not sufficient and pendency was growing.” “UP has 75 districts but only five laboratories in Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, Ghaziabad and Moradabad. The government is setting up six laboratories in Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Kannauj, Aligarh, Gonda and Jhansi,” said government spokesman.
In a major relief to business community, the cabinet also cleared the proposal to waive off penalties and interest under UP Sales Tax Act (1948), Central Sales Tax Act (1956), Entertainment Tax Act (1979), UP Entry Tax Act (2007), VAT and UP Cable Television Network Rules of 1997. All penalties till March 31, 2019 have been waived off.
The cabinet also approved changing the name of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arbi-Farsi University, as suggested by governor Anandiben Patel, to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Bhasha University.
In a relief to builders, changes have also been made to floor area ratio (FAR) in Noida. The new FAR has been fixed at 0.60 for both residential and commercial constructions, giving builders additional 27% area.
The cabinet also cleared the proposal of setting up an Ayush University in Gorakhpur.
The cabinet has cleared Rs 15,722 crore for providing piped water to seven districts in Bundelkhand and two in Vindhya region which are affected by arsenic and fluoride and where diseases like JE and AES are common. Detailed project reports (DPRs) of 545 projects have already been prepared.
