Nagpur:
Nandanvan police on Wednesday registered a case of molestation against a professor who allegedly tried to kiss a 19-year-old student in December last year. The accused, identified as Dilip Vairagade, had allegedly molested the BCom first year student in his car.
The offence was registered after the survivor lodged a complaint at the police station on Wednesday.
TOI had earlier reported that the professor was sacked by the college after he was indicted by a panel for sexually abusing the student.
According to police, the survivor studied in the Nandanvan-based college where the accused used to teach. As per the complaint, Dilip regularly tried to find ways to talk with the teenager. He used to pursuade her to join computer classes.
In December, last year Dilip picked up the survivor from the college on pretext of taking her to a computer institute in Dharampeth for enrolment. The duo came to the institute and the survivor enrolled. The accused had also offered to pay for the survivor’s fees, said cops.
On way back, the accused stopped his car at an isolated place in Nandanvan and allegedly tried to kiss the survivor. When the teenager opposed his advances, Dilip got angry and threatened her of
dire consequences if she shared the incident with anyone, the complaint stated.
The survivor later reached college but did not share the incident with anyone. She later approached the college authorities.
It is learnt that survivor was initially reluctant to file a police complaint fearing her parents and felt it would adversely impact her career. The survivor narrated her ordeal to her father after he recently read the news about a professor from her college being sacked for molesting a student.
